Each course or programme has its own specific prerequisites; these may include diplomas from earlier studies. Each student that applies has the right to have his/her merits evaluated to see if the informal merits (e.i. non-university studies, work experience) are the equivalent of the formal merits required for entry or as basis of a degree. Admission tests for the school are comprehensive and differ with each program or course. All education is free of charge. From the fall semester of 2011 Sweden will implement a new system with application and tuition fees for applicants and students from non-EU/EEA-countries.
Previous studies
A student who has previously studied at another educational institution, regardless whether it was at a university or a private institution, may petition to DOCH and have part of the previous studies validated. A validation can shorten the study period within a programme or, in some cases, allow a student entry to shorter courses that include individual projects whereby a degree can be obtained. Each student’s petition is assessed on the merits that he or she presents.
