Presentation av Chrysa Parkinson
Chrysa Parkinson is a performer and teacher living in Brussels. In 2009-2010 she will perform in three new works: with Jonathan Burrows, Mette Ingvartsen and Rosas/Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker. She has been a member of Zoo/Thomas Hauert since 2003.
In the last couple of years she has also performed with Deborah Hay, John Jasperse, Mark Lorimer, Meg Stuart and David Zambrano. In New York she danced with Tere O’Connor for many years, and also worked with Mark Dendy, Lucy Guerin, Irene Hultman, and Jennifer Monson, among others. She was awarded a NY Dance and Performance Award (Bessie) for sustained achievement in performance. Chrysa is currently working with P.A.R.T.S. as a consultant for the second cycle students and staff. She teaches classes and workshops internationally, and occasionally publishes essays on dance and performance.
In 2008 Chrysa was part of 6M1L/Ex.e.r.c.e., a performance and research project instigated by Xavier LeRoy and Bojana Cvejic in Montpellier. Chrysa’s focus during these 6 months was to develop a way of identifying and developing performance practices, and on performing while absent. The result was Self Interview on Practice, an illustrated audio essay. A version of the film’s text is available at everybodystoolbox.net. The film has been shown at Inpresentable in Madrid, at Impulstanz/Vienna, and at Sommerbar/Tanz im August in Berlin.
