About Johan Sundell

Johan Sundell is a gender scholar working within the broad field of queer and feminist theory. His main fields of interest is queerness, abjection and noise as possible ontological-epistemological vantage points for critical thinking and queer feminist politics.

He is currently working on a "queer noise manifesto" together with composer Birt Berglund as a part of their collaborative queer noise project ”Seroconversion” in which they make noise out of found objects relating to gay male subculture, femininity and waste.

By defining ”queer” as ”unwanted desire” and ”noise” as ”unwanted sound” they explore what happens when one combines these two forms of unwantedness and turn them into sonic and artistic practices.
