Access to databases at DOCH and elsewhere

Teachers and students at DOCH will obtain password for the first two of the below listed databases by contacting the library. In order to get access to the other databases in the list, please use the PIN code for you library card at the Stockholm Public Library system or contact Stockholm Universty library for a  guest log in. A few of the databases are free on the Internet.

Academic Search Premier
This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,600 journals, including full text for nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 8,500 journals. This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study including: computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more.

Dance Education Literature and Research descriptive index, DELRdi
DELRdi is a database which contains more than 4500 references to articles, conference publications as well as workshops in the field of Dance didactics. Please, contact the libary for password.

Dance in video
The database  lays the foundation for the study of dance in all its forms with 500 hours of content in modern dance, ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and more.
Films feature many of the greatest dance companies and performers worldwide. It also includes an array of rare and hard-to-find archival material featuring dance performances from 1950s and 1960s.
It  enables the users to make video clips, add clips into one playlist as well as export, download, and email full, accurate citations.

Film & Television Literature Index with Full Text
This database is a research tool for film and television research. Subject coverage includes film & television theory, preservation & restoration, production, cinematography, technical aspects, and reviews. The database provides indexing and abstracts of articles from more than 380 publications, as well as full text for more than 120 journals, and 100 books. In addition, this database  includes movie reviews from 1914 to the present and over 36,300 images from the MPTV Image Archive.

International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text
This database is a research tool  for the study of theatre and the performing arts. It was initiated by the American Society for Theatre Research and contains more than  490 full-text titles and more than 170 full-text journals (such as Canadian Theatre Review, Dance Chronicle, Dance Teacher, Modern Drama, PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, Research in Dance Education, Research in Drama Education, Studies in Theatre and Performance, TDR: The Drama Review, Theater) and many more.

International Index to Music Periodicals Full Text
This database provides indexing and abstracts for several hundred international music periodicals from over 20 countries, plus full text for more than 140 of the indexed journals. The database currently includes over 770,000 records, the majority from the most recent ten years of publication. Some journals go back to 1874. It covers the full spectrum of subjects and all aspects of music, including music education, performance, musical theatre, theory, popular music, forms and composition.

International Index to Performing Arts Full Text, IIPA
This database provides indexing and abstracts from more than 260 international periodicals, plus full text for more than 100 of the indexed journals. The database currently includes half a million records, the majority from the most recent ten years of each journal. IIPA covers a broad spectrum of the arts and entertainment industry - including dance, drama, theater, musical theater, circus, opera, film, television and more.

Opera in Video
The database  contains five hundred hours of the most important opera performances, captured on video through staged productions, interviews, and documentaries. Selections represent the world’s best performers, conductors and opera houses and are based on a work’s importance to the operatic canon.

Periodicals Index Online
This database contains over 20 million articles published in over 6,000 periodicals going as far back as 1665. It combines a broad subject base with deep chronological coverage. It spans 37 key subject areas in the arts, humanities and social sciences and offers great variety within these disciplines. It enables undergraduate, graduate and researchers quickly to locate every article relevant to their particular field of study.

Play Index
This database searches over 30,000 plays written from Antiquity to the present and published from 1949 to the present. Play Index covers a wide range of plays written in or translated into English, including mysteries, puppet performances, classic drama and many others. Topics covered include art history, architecture & architectural history, photography, costume design, television & video as well as motion pictures and textiles.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
This database contains over 700,000 entries from 1967 to the present day. The database is a comprehensive guide to publications in music from all over the world. Approximately 38,000 new records are added every year, covering all document types. The subject coverage embraces Western art music, popular music, folk, instrument and voice, music theory and pedagogy among other fields.

Theatre in Video
The database contains hundreds of videos, including documentaries and  performances of the world’s most important plays. From celebrated productions of Shakespeare to rare, in-depth footage of the work of Samuel Beckett, the collection covers a wide range of 20th century theatre history. Interviews with directors, designers, writers, and actors, along with excerpts of live performances deliver an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at hundreds of productions.

Ebsco Masterfile Premier contains references to articles in approximately 2000 international journals, within the fields of the Arts and the Social Sciences.
